Why learn to teach Persian?

There are several compelling reasons why Persian is an important and in-demand language:

Strategic Importance:

Persian is designated as a “critical language” by the U.S. State Department and a “priority language” by the U.S. Department of Education due to its importance in global diplomacy, national security, and international cultural relations.

There are several other reasons why Persian is an important and in-demand language:

  1. Lingua Franca:
Persian has historically been a lingua franca across vast regions of Asia and the Middle East, facilitating communication, intellectual exchange, and cultural diffusion for centuries.
  2. Rich Literary Tradition:
Persian boasts a deep literary heritage that spans over a millennium, featuring some of the world’s most celebrated poets and influential philosophers, including Ferdowsi, Hafez, Rumi, and Saadi.
  3. Global Demand for Persian Teachers:
The growing Persian diaspora (from different countries) has led to increasing interest in Persian language and cultural studies worldwide. Nevertheless, qualified Persian language instructors are in short supply. This demand is particularly strong for individuals with degrees in Persian, Linguistics, or related humanities and social sciences fields, complemented by specialized training in Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language (TPFL).
