Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language Certificate Program Requirements

The graduate certificate in Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language consists of 16 units of coursework that include:

  • 13 units of required courses
  • 3 units of an elective course

Required Courses

13 units total

  • PRS 507: 4th Year Persian I (3 units) OR PRS 508: 4th Year Persian II (3 units)
  • ENGL 555: Introduction to Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (3 units) (Prerequisite for ENGL 613)
  • ENGL 613: Methods of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (3 units) - on-campus only
  • PRS 599: Independent Study (2 units)
  • PRS 699: Independent Study (2 units)*

*This course requires the development of five lesson plans, rating five texts, and auditing/observing PRS 102.

Elective Course

  • PRS 596A: Topics in Classical and Ancient Persian Literature and Culture (3 units)
